Good Thing I Just Got A Chainsaw

Yesterday afternoon there was sole pretty strong winds that came in with a storm. At some point it took out what looked like an entire tree.

Earlier this month I got a chainsaw as a belated birthday present from my parents. Good thing, because there’s no way I’ll be able to move this on my own. (more…)

Hairspray on Broadway

Hairspray on Broadway

So I’ve just arrived home after attending the opening night show of Hairspray at the Civic Center. The show is only here for 3 days and I was lucky enough to get to see it. I do have to start out and say that I knew I was going to love this show before the curtain ever came up. Why? Because it’s a Broadway show. I’ve had this soundtrack since Marissa Jaret Winokur won the Tony! It’s ingrained in me to love all things musical. If anybody has listened to or seen Forbidden Broadway: Goes to Rehab, I found a bit of truth in that first song. Enough of that and back to Hairspray’s opening night. (more…)

CONTEST: Free Digital Copy of Half-Life ²

Half-Life ²

So back in 2007, I purchased a copy of The Orange Box, which comes with Half-Life 2, Episodes 1 & 2, Lost Coast, Portal and Team Fortress 2. By this point, I had already purchased HL² when it originally came out in 2004 and I was given 1 extra gift copy.

Since I’ve been sitting on the free copy for about a year and a half, I decided it is time to give this thing away. Here’s the rundown on how it’s going to work: (more…)

Grab Your Balls for a #DMTweetUp – Part 1

I love bowling. I’m not very good, but I still love it. I love greasy bar food and beer. Over the past few months, I have been evolving my “relationship” with Twitter by finding local people to follow, trying to join in on conversations, occasionally starting some myself, and going to DMTweetups, which also seem to involve greasy bar food and beer.

These Twitter meetups are a great way to socialize, network, meet old and new friends, and just have fun. This morning I thought to myself why not do the same thing, but throw in a sport that can make even the most coordinated person look like a flailing monkey? Every group-bowling event I’ve been to is quite social; lots of high-fives and words of encouragement. Lots of (friendly) bickering and bantering. Lots of eating and drinking. I don’t know about anybody else, but my score seems to improve about 3 pins per beer consumed. (more…)

This morning isn’t starting out very well. My normal morning routine before work includes refreshing my podcast list in iTunes, downloading the new ones, then sync my iPod before I head out the door. This time, it was doing something odd… The sync spinner icon was lagging (normally spins smoothly). The top status window only said the normal “Syncing iPod. Do not disconnect.” message, but it wasn’t copying anything. So I stopped it and checked to see what was up; my entire podcast folder was empty, along with half my music. In the words of my wife, “I grr you iPod. Grr.” (more…)

I Can Has Blahg?

It’s 2009. I haven’t had a blog before now. I think it’s been a combination of laziness and having little to say. Decided to join the crowd and actually make one, just because.

Those that know me personally know that I rarely talk. This will probably carry over into future posts, which would work out better for today’s “2-minute Internet attention-span”.

I am hoping that this will help me flesh out my expressiveness. Usually I have 1-word responses to general questions. By typing things out, I feel obligated to expand on my response. (more…)
